Twelve ways to control light, heat and privacy

Every window in a Copperleaf home works differently — a fairway-facing living room wants the view kept, a west bedroom wants total dark. This is the full range we fit, made to measure for each one. And when a blind you already own starts sticking, we repair those too.

Built for Copperleaf

Windows here answer to the fairway, not the street

Copperleaf Golf & Country Estate is built entirely around its golf course on Centurion's eastern side — and that changes what belongs on the windows here more than almost anywhere else we fit.

01

The fairway is the whole point

Living rooms, main bedrooms and entertainment patios are positioned to look straight down the fairway or over the green — the reason most of these homes were bought in the first place. Full blockout misses that; sunscreen fabric in the 3–5% openness range is the standard here because it cuts glare and UV without losing the view you're paying for.

02

Open fairway, open sun

A tree-lined suburban stand shades itself for part of the day; a fairway-facing elevation on a golf estate usually doesn't. Without that mature canopy, west- and north-facing glass here can run hotter for longer through summer afternoons — which is where external venetians and awnings earn their keep, stopping heat before it reaches the glass.

03

Estate guidelines shape the finish

Golf estates like Copperleaf typically run an architectural or aesthetic guideline covering anything visible from outside the home, including blind and awning cassettes. We work in neutral, estate-friendly colourways as standard and recommend confirming your estate's exact requirements during the free in-home measure — final approval always sits with the estate itself.

04

Highveld storm season

Centurion gets the same November-to-March storm pattern as the rest of the highveld — fast-moving thunderstorms, sudden wind gusts and the occasional hailstorm. An awning or external blind left extended on an exposed fairway wall is at real risk in weather like that, so a wind sensor that auto-retracts the system is standard on every exterior install we do here.

Scroll — the glare lifts, the fairway stays.

Free, and genuinely useful

The Copperleaf Fairway Light Playbook

Before you spend a cent, read the guide we wrote for this estate specifically: how the Highveld sun and UV behave on each elevation, what we'd fit on a fairway-facing wall versus a west one, and the honest trade-offs both ways. It ends with two easy next steps — a two-minute ballpark, or the free measure.

Read the playbook
  • Which blinds suit north, west, east and south glass — and why
  • Where sunscreen beats blockout, and where it doesn't
  • Why exterior shading here needs a wind sensor
  • Every climate fact sourced, no fluff

Questions

Honest answers before you commit

Do you fit both the freestanding homes and the estate's smaller units?
Yes — Copperleaf's mix of full-title fairway homes and smaller cluster or duet units are all within our service area. The free in-home measure works the same either way, whatever the size of the property.
What's the difference between sunscreen and blockout, and which do I need for a fairway-facing room?
Blockout stops light completely — right for bedrooms and media rooms regardless of the view. Sunscreen fabric, usually 3% or 5% openness, cuts glare and UV while keeping the fairway visible during the day, which is why it's the default for living areas that face the course. Many Copperleaf homes end up with both on the same window, as a double roller.
Will my blind or awning colours meet the estate's architectural guidelines?
We work in neutral, low-visibility colourways as standard for estate homes, but we're not the estate's architectural committee. Your consultant will help you choose finishes at the free in-home measure, and we recommend confirming the exact requirement with the estate before anything is ordered.
Will an awning or external blind survive a highveld storm out here?
Wind is the real risk, not the rain. We fit motorised awnings and external venetians with a wind sensor as standard on exposed fairway-facing elevations, so the system retracts itself before a sudden gust or hailstorm can damage it — you don't have to be home to react.
Do you offer child-safe options?
Yes, on every corded or chained product. Cord and chain tensioners are standard on every install, and for nurseries or playrooms we recommend cordless or motorised control — nothing dangling within reach at all.
How does the process actually work, from enquiry to fitted blinds?
You reach out through the form or chat on this site, we book a free in-home measure where a consultant brings samples and measures every window, you receive a written quote itemised per window, and once you approve it your blinds are made to order and professionally fitted.
